Novice vs Open

Program Info- Open Wrestling vs. Novice Wrestling

We offer two levels in which your son/daughter can participate.  Open and Novice Wrestling. Open and novice brackets are broken up by age and weight. There is 6U, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 then jr high.Weights are dependent on what each tournament director lays out. It’s usually every 5#, starting at 40#. When the weights get higher, usually after 90#, they will be broken up in 10/15# increments

Open wrestling- means that anyone with any level of experience (years) can compete on the mats.

Novice- means that participants must be in their (1st) first or (2nd) second year of wrestling.  Once a wrestler has competed in Novice tournaments for (2) two seasons, they are no longer eligible to compete in novice tournaments.  This allows for kids to be matched up properly with competition with similar experience.  Novice kids can compete in scrimmages and they will not count towards a year of Novice. We encourage participants of all ages and skill levels to come out and join us!
