About Us

VISION: To create an organization and team that gives kids the opportunity to learn more than just the sport, but to learn about skills and capabilities, which will enable them to have success outside of the wrestling room and mat.

To have the best coaching staff that will create experiences for the kids, to enable them to become better wrestlers, as well as, leave with experiences they can use in other areas of their lives.  Create a team environment where kids who participate have an organization of friends and teammates they can count on for support.

SCYW is a Non-profit organization run by volunteers dedicated to introducing wrestling at the youth level in a fun and friendly environment. Our club supports elementary (1st-6th grade) students from the State College Area School District. Our Program is designed to teach these young athletes about Wrestling and to discover the potential of their internal strength.  We are part of the Keystone Junior Wrestling League. Within the league we schedule 4-5 scrimmage each year. At these scrimmages kids can compete with kids from other local schools. Wrestlers are matched up with kids of similar age, weight and skill to compete. The competitions are fun but not required for any team member. Yes, we can give your child the tools to be a very successful wrestler but we also focus on other areas which we feel are very important to becoming a well rounded Student-Athlete. We talk about commitment, respect, determination, responsibility, accountability, mental fortitude, and sportsmanship. We also set a foundation for goal setting, sportsmanship, determination, work ethic, focus and good manners. Yes, a youth can learn these many different ways but there is not any place better to learn these qualities than through a good Wrestling program. So youth Wrestling is not really about winning, scores, etc. We believe Youth Wrestling helps set a foundation for life skills and it teaches youth how to think their way through the challenges all kids encounter while growing up. We believe that if you Wrestle over a number of years, you can achieve any goal in life because of the skills you learned on a wrestling mat.  This is what State College Youth Wrestling is all about. if you have Questions about registration or our season. please email us [email protected].
